About Eastbay

It’s summertime and things generally tend to get a little pricey by the time June rolls around. That’s why today we here at Definitive Deals are presenting you with 10 deals you should be on the lookout for to help you snatch up your summer savings hassle-free.

There are plenty of deals around, whether you want to stay fashionable, stock up on essentials or even if you’re traveling.

So what can you save on? Here are a few ideas:

1. Clothing: More particularly, clothing for fall and winter. While many stores are fully stocked with their summer apparel, some places might still be trying to sell off their overstock of jackets, long pants and sweatshirts. You might even be able to find deals on winter boots and footwear.

2. Heating: HVAC companies can make a killing during the hotter months. For something you can stock up on (mostly if you live in a cooler area), look for a new space heater.

3. Fuel: No, this isn’t a typo. While contradictory on many levels, analysts have predicted that gas prices will drop below $3.40 by July, pending “refinery problems or significant international news events.” Okay, so maybe it’s not a huge price drop, but every little bit counts.

4. Back To School Supplies: Typically, stores begin stocking their “back to school” items around August. So if you want to beat the rush while also scoring a few bargains on the essentials such as backpacks, paper and pens, now is the time to do it.

5. Small Electrical Appliances: Much like the aforementioned item, small appliances such as microwaves and mini refrigerators tend to be cheaper in the summertime as a means of enticing college students to stock up before they head back to school. Even if you’re been out of school for years and you’re in need of something, this might not be such a bad idea.

6. Bicycles: If the weather is favorable around your area, why not take up a new hobby this season? Typically, newer models of bicycles hit stores around September to prep for the holiday season. For best results, pay a visit to the store towards the end of the season to pick up the best deal. The same also applies on buying one after the December, but we’ll get to that some other time.

7. Furniture: For furniture stores, summer and winter are the two biggest times when they start selling off their overstock. For even better deals, pay a visit to the furniture store during the last days of their sales, as the staff may be under more pressure to meet their sales quota.

8. Stationery: This goes back to what we brought up about school supplies. The price of stationery – as well as printers and ink – tends to go up around September. So before the semester begins, get it while it’s hot.

9. Travel: Summer vacation time! While it is true that prices on airfare tend to spike in the summer, there are a few tricks to saving. For example, Tuesdays at 3:00 p.m. tend to be the best day to book domestic flights, while Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday are the cheapest days to fly. In addition, consider booking your trip with a lesser-known carrier, ask and agent, and for one final tidbit, while holiday travel is busy and expensive, traveling on the actual day is much cheaper than the days leading up to it.

10. Outdoor: Summer isn’t officially over until late-September, and for those who want to find deals on outdoor gear, you will have to wait. Outdoor equipment tends to drop around August, pending current weather patterns. In other words, be on the lookout if this is your thing.
