About Birthday Express

Summer is coming to a close, and we here at DefinitiveDeals want to help you end things with a bang. That’s why today, we’ve listed 10 helpful tips to help you throw the best Labor Day party in town, all on a budget…

It’s the end of the season, but that doesn’t mean it’s the end of the fun. Whether you want to invite just a few friends or family members or the entire neighborhood, there are plenty of ways to ensure your party goes on without a hitch.

So what can you do? Here are a few tips:

1. The Right Space: To get started, you’ll need the proper space. For best results, consider hosting at your home, or even entertain the idea of planning a party with a next-door neighbor and combining your two backyards. If you need a bigger space to accommodate more guests, many parks have areas and pavilions that you can use without a reservation.

2. Invitations: Great invitations can be expensive, and using WordArt on Microsoft Word is probably out of the question. However, there are plenty of places that will let you create your own high quality invitations for less (check out our Cardstore coupons for starters…)

3. Décor: Unlike other summer holidays, Labor Day doesn’t necessarily have to follow a certain theme. You can easily make this event as casual as you want, which in the end will save you a lot of money on decorations. Simply look for bright, cheery colored streamers or lanterns to add a festive touch.

4. Be Resourceful: If you are having a party on a much larger scale, you’re probably well aware that renting tables and chairs can often be expensive. To bypass that, maybe turn to simpler options, like sitting on beach towels if appropriate, or having everyone bring over lawn chairs. If you’re in an area with picnic tables, then you’re already set.

5. Food: There are two routes you can take for food. One is to buy and cook all of the entrees yourself. Hot dogs and burgers are usually pretty fail-safe options, as are most snack food items like chips and dip, and slaw. Your next option to make it a potluck and ask your guests to bring a dish. This can result in a great variety of options that anyone can enjoy.

6. Drink: Everyone has different tastes (no pun intended) when it comes to beverages, so plan accordingly. Soda, water, beer and wine are always great options, or if you really want to save yourself a few dollars, there is the option of making it BYOB.

7. Music: Nothing sets the mood at a party better than the right music, and thankfully, there are plenty of options. Find a stereo and a few CDs that you or your friends may own, or hook up your iPod/iPhone to a dock. You can even play music via Spotify or Pandora.

8. Games: Who needs to go out and buy party games? The right solution could be right in front of you. If you know anyone who has a volleyball net, ask them bring it over and set it up (and don’t forget the ball!). You can also entertain the idea of badminton racks, croquet, or even corn hole. For those who might not care for sports, you can always do activities such as charades, karaoke or play a game of Apples To Apples.

9. Have Fun: This might be the most important tip of all. This could be your last big shindig of the season, so relax, have some fun, and enjoy it!
